EdWallet payment fees, incoming and outgoing. Incoming: student pays in different currency = 1.8% FX spread to student, no agency/school fee; same currency = $10 flat for wire, 1-3% for credit card depending on currency; agency sending corporate funds = 0.8% spread. Outgoing: payouts to school providers = no fees; withdrawals same currency = no fee, different currency = 0.8% FX spread; manage fee balances by paying school first then withdrawing commission, combining students, or charging extra on payment request; TransferMate ensures full payment delivery (no intermediary deductions).

Fees on payments moving through EdWallet, covering both funds collected from students (incoming) and funds leaving EdWallet (outgoing).

Incoming payment fees

Fees on student payments collected via EdWallet, EdCommerce, proposals, or Student Portal.

Student pays in a different currency

  • Agency/school fees: None.
  • Student fees: 1.8% spread on FX rate (covers transaction costs).
  • Card payments: Additional processing fees included in the FX rate (covers issuer + processor).

Student pays in same currency

No fees for agency or school. Student-side fees:

Agency sends corporate funds from local bank to EdWallet

A 0.8% spread applies to cover transaction fees (e.g. USD to BRL).

Outgoing payment fees

Fees on funds leaving EdWallet (payouts to providers, withdrawals to own bank).

Payouts (agency pays a school provider)

No fees on payouts to school providers.

Withdrawals (agency sends funds to own bank)

  • Same currency (e.g. USD to USD, CAD to CAD): No fee.
  • Different currency: No flat fee, but 0.8% FX spread applies.

Tip: managing fee balances

Processing fees can leave a small mismatch between what was received and what's available for payout. Manage this by:

  • Pay school first, withdraw remainder as commission. If $1,000 received and $900 owed to school, withdraw the $100 difference.
  • Combine multiple students. Pool funds before paying, leaving headroom for fees.
  • Charge an extra fee on payment requests. Request $1,005 instead of $1,000 so $5 outgoing fee leaves you exactly $1,000.
  • Send a follow-up payment link for the missing fee amount after collecting the main payment.
