How to Collect Student Payments

Last updated: May 6, 2026

How to collect payments: set up EdWallet, create payment plans (split by total or by item), deposits to confirm proposals, automatic payment requests and reminders, student portal access.

Collect student payments directly through Edvisor with payment plans that increase conversion.

Setting Up Payments

Payments are powered by EdWallet (TransferMate). Once enabled, you can collect payments from students in multiple currencies.

Payment Plans in Proposals

When building a proposal, add a payment plan to any option:

  • Split by total — divide the amount into installments with due dates
  • Split by item — assign specific costs to each installment (e.g., application fee first, tuition later)

Set a deposit amount that the student pays online to confirm their place. After the deposit is paid, the proposal automatically converts to a Sale.

Payment Plans in Sales

Sales have the full payment collection flow:

  • Automatic payment requests sent to students before each installment is due
  • Automatic reminders for unpaid installments
  • Students pay through a secure link via email or the Student Portal
  • You see all balances, due dates, and transaction status in one place

Configure default settings for when payment requests go out (e.g., 7 days before due date) and when reminders are sent.

Student Portal

Students can view their payment schedule, make payments, and track their status in the Student Portal. No need for back-and-forth emails.

Alternative Payment Methods

If you're not using EdWallet, you can add alternative payment instructions (bank details, payment links) that display to students in their Sales view.
