StudyInsured: emergency assistance and claims

StudyInsured emergency assistance must be contacted within 48 hours (1-866-883-9787 Canada/US, +1-416-640-7865 international). Claims via Student Portal. Pre-approval required for surgery/major testing/treatment abroad to avoid 80% reimbursement penalty.

Emergency assistance
Students (or someone acting on their behalf) must contact StudyInsured Assistance within 48 hours of any emergency.
Important: For medical emergencies requiring hospitalization, surgery, major diagnostic testing, or treatment outside Canada — contact within 48 hours. Failure to do so may result in claim denial or partial coverage (typically reimbursed at 80% instead of 100%).
How to make a claim
Claims are submitted through the Student Portal:
- Submit new claims.
- Track claim status.
- Review full claims history.

Pre-approval requirement
If treatment involves surgery, major diagnostic testing, or takes place outside Canada, pre-approval is required. Without pre-approval, claims may be reimbursed at only 80% instead of 100%.
